Brief Profile

Dr C.S. Surya Goud has been part of the ICMR-National Institute of Nutrition (ICMR-NIN) since March 2022. A graduate of Bhaskar Medical College, Hyderabad, with an MBBS degree from NTR University of Health Sciences, Vijayawada, Dr. Surya is committed to advancing public health nutrition research.

Currently, he works in the Division of Public Health Nutrition at ICMR-NIN, where his research focuses on critical health challenges like malnutrition, tuberculosis, and non-communicable diseases in community settings. One of his primary projects explores the impact of low-sodium salt consumption on hypertension, a growing health concern in India.

In collaboration with the Women and Child Development (WCD) Department of the Government of Telangana, Dr. Surya has contributed to the implementation of the Supervised Supplementary Feeding Program (SSFP), a key component of the Community Management of Acute Malnutrition (CMAM) initiative. This program aims to combat acute malnutrition in vulnerable populations.

Dr. Surya also coordinates research activities for the Dietary and Biomarker Survey-1 (DABS-I), a large-scale national project designed to assess the nutritional and health status of the Indian population. Beyond his research roles, he serves as a faculty member for the MSc Nutrition and Postgraduate Certificate Course in Applied Nutrition, while providing medical services at the welfare clinic at ICMR-NIN.
